Incontinence Aids & Products - WHAT IS AVAILABLE?

  • Incontinence aids and products should NOT be considered the only management option. Please contact the Continence Advisory Service to find out ways to prevent, treat and manage bladder and bowel health issues.
  • This list is not exhaustive and has been included on this web page to give consumers an idea of what type of incontinence aids and products are available. Please call the Continence Advisory Service for further information on incontinence aids and products.
  • It is important to talk to a Continence Advisor to ensure that you use the most appropriate and effective product for your individual need. A Continence Advisor is available at the Continence Advisory Service to give you product and aid information and details on where to purchase the aids and products.

Panty liners
Recommended for: light stress incontinence
Capacity Range: 120 - 200 mls
Pads
Recommended for: light to moderate incontinence
Capacity Range: 200 - 600 mls
Pads for men
Recommended for: light to moderate incontinence
Capacity Range: 145 - 350 mls
N.B. This product is not suitable for males with faecal incontinence
Belted pull up pads
Recommended for: moderate incontinence
Capacity Range: 450 - 500 mls
N.B. This product is user friendly for people with dexterity problems, although the button styles may be difficult
Protective underwear
Recommended for: moderate incontinence
Capacity Range: 600 - 900 mls
N.B. This product is user friendly for people with dexterity problems
Shaped day pads ( worn with net pants)
Recommended for: moderate to heavy incontinence and faecal incontinence
Capacity Range: 750 - 1200 mls
All in one
Recommended for: moderate to heavy incontinence
Capacity Range: 800 - 1500 mls
N.B. This product is suitable for people with night time incontinence and/or people who are bed bound
Washable underwear (comes with a built in pad which in some styles is detachable)
Recommended for: children and adults of all ages
Capacity Range: dependant on style of underwear
N.B. This product is generally not suitable for heavy night time incontinence
Catheters
Recommended for: short term or long term management of emptying the bladder
Mattress, linen and chair protectors
Recommended: protects bedding and furniture
Capacity Range: 2000 - 3000mls
Products for faecal incontinence
Recommended for: people with faecal incontinence
N.B. There are number of products designed to help people with faecal incontinence, please contact the Continence Advisory Service for further information.
Toilet aids (including urinals and hygiene aids)
Recommended for: people who have difficulty accessing toilet facilities
Vaginal support devices
Recommended for: women with mild urinary stress incontinence upon recommendation from a continence health care professional
Creams and wipes (including cleansers and barrier creams)
Recommended to: help protect the skin from exposure to incontinence which can cause damage to the skin and soreness
